On 20–21 August 2026, students from the Mechanical and Robotics Engineering Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, participated in the Cobot Contest Thailand 2026 held at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Khon Kaen Campus, Khon Kaen Province. The team delivered an outstanding performance and successfully won Third Place, receiving a trophy and a cash prize of 15,000 baht. This achievement brought great pride to the program, the School of Engineering and Technology, and Walailak University.
The MRE WU Team consisted of three Mechanical and Robotics Engineering students: Mr. Natthawat Prasertsang, Mr. Thanakorn Krainara, and Mr. Kantkawi Mechana. The team was advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakit Iadtong, who provided guidance and support throughout the preparation process leading up to the competition.
Cobot Contest Thailand 2026 provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in robot control and the application of automation technologies. The competition also encouraged participants to strengthen essential engineering skills, including analytical thinking, planning, problem-solving under pressure, and teamwork. These competencies are increasingly important for future engineers as robotics and automation technologies continue to play a greater role in modern industries.
The team’s success reflects the students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world competition challenges. It also demonstrates their dedication to continuous practice and the development of practical skills in robotics and automation. In addition, participation in the competition gave the students valuable opportunities to exchange experiences with participants from other institutions and gain exposure to new technologies that can be further applied in their studies and future professional careers.
