Walailak University extends its congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nirundorn Matan and his research team on receiving a petty patent (No. 27977) for their invention entitled “A Process for Relieving Stress in Rubberwood After Drying Using Low-Temperature Conditioning.” The petty patent was granted on 5 May 2026, marking another significant achievement in research and innovation that reflects Walailak University’s capability in transforming academic knowledge into practical applications.
The invention focuses on developing a process to relieve internal stress in rubberwood after kiln drying by applying a low-temperature conditioning method. This innovation is directly related to improving the quality of rubberwood raw materials and enhancing the efficiency of wood-processing operations.
Rubberwood is an important economic resource in Southern Thailand and across the country. It is widely used as a raw material in furniture manufacturing, wood products, and various value-added materials. However, the preparation and drying of rubberwood are critical processes that directly affect the quality and properties of the final products. Therefore, developing a method that helps reduce internal stress in dried wood can contribute to more efficient and effective utilization of rubberwood.
The granting of this petty patent also demonstrates Walailak University’s commitment to advancing research beyond laboratory-based knowledge generation. The University places strong emphasis on intellectual property protection and on developing research outcomes with the potential for practical application, technology transfer, and future commercial utilization.
Furthermore, the innovation aligns with approaches to developing value-added products from biological resources and natural materials. By improving the efficiency of domestic wood utilization, the research has the potential to enhance the value of local raw materials and strengthen knowledge and technological capabilities in the wood industry, supporting its long-term competitiveness and sustainable development.
Walailak University congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nirundorn Matan and the research team on this achievement and wishes them continued success in advancing research and innovation that can generate new knowledge, create economic value, and contribute to industry, communities, and the country.
