Thirty students from Walailak University have begun their learning journey in the 30-Day Student Mobility Programme in Artificial Intelligence and English 2026, held from 12 October to 10 November 2026 at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia. The programme aims to develop students’ knowledge of artificial intelligence alongside English communication skills and cultural understanding through an international learning experience.
The programme offers students opportunities to study in a different educational environment while adapting to living and participating in activities with others throughout the 30-day period. By combining technology education with communication skills development, it provides diverse experiences that students can apply to their future studies and careers.
Morning sessions focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), combining theoretical learning with practical coding exercises. Students have opportunities to connect concepts with hands-on practice while developing systematic thinking, understanding problems, and exploring solutions through programming. These skills provide an important foundation for further learning in technology.
Afternoon activities focus on English language practice and learning about Malaysian culture. Using English in academic settings and everyday situations gives students opportunities to build confidence, practise listening, express their ideas, and communicate appropriately with different people. These skills are valuable for learning in international environments and working with colleagues from diverse countries.
Beyond academic knowledge, the programme introduces students to the lifestyles and culture of a neighbouring country. It also offers opportunities to explore social differences and build friendships with international peers. Such experiences encourage students to consider new perspectives, respect differences, and develop an understanding of others—essential qualities for living and working in a multicultural society.
Learning AI and English together supports students’ development in the digital age. Technological knowledge requires continuous learning, while English is an important tool for accessing information, exchanging perspectives, and communicating ideas. Practising both within one programme therefore helps establish a foundation for independent learning and broadens students’ awareness of future educational and professional opportunities.
Throughout the programme, students also have opportunities to develop time management, responsibility, and adaptability through studying and living abroad. Encountering unfamiliar situations allows them to practise decision-making, address everyday challenges, and learn from direct experience. These experiences complement classroom education and contribute to their preparation for professional life.
The School of Engineering and Technology at Walailak University encourages all participating students to make the most of this opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence, develop their English skills, and engage in cultural exchange. The School also encourages students to apply their knowledge and experiences to their studies and personal development, and to share their perspectives with fellow students, extending the benefits of international learning to the wider university community.
