On 1 August 2026, students from the Electrical Engineering Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, participated in the “Low-Voltage Electrical System Development Volunteer Camp” at Wat Nang Tra, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The activity provided students with an opportunity to apply their electrical engineering knowledge in a real-world setting while contributing to the local community.
Fourth-year students played a key role in the activity by applying the knowledge and experience they had gained throughout their studies. Their work included surveying the existing electrical system, identifying problems, planning improvement activities, and developing the low-voltage electrical system within the temple area to better suit actual usage needs.
The activity was also integrated with classroom learning in the Cost Estimation and Electrical System Design courses offered during the semester. This allowed students to see a clear connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application. They gained hands-on experience in site surveying, system design, material and equipment estimation, and work planning under real-world conditions and limitations.
In addition to strengthening their technical skills in electrical engineering, the students also developed essential professional competencies, including teamwork, task allocation, responsibility, problem-solving, communication, and safety awareness. These skills are highly important for their future careers as engineers.
The Low-Voltage Electrical System Development Volunteer Camp was therefore more than a community service activity. It served as an experiential learning platform where students could develop their knowledge, practical skills, and professional mindset through real situations. At the same time, the activity encouraged students to recognize the important role of engineers in applying knowledge and technology to solve problems and create benefits for society.
The Electrical Engineering Program at Walailak University is committed to promoting learning through the principle of “learning by doing and serving the community.” Through activities such as this volunteer camp, students are prepared to enter the engineering profession with strong technical knowledge, practical experience, a sense of responsibility, and an awareness of how engineering can contribute to sustainable social development.
