On 21 April 2026, the results of the Startup Thailand League 2026 university-level competition were announced, with first-year students from the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, achieving an outstanding result as members of the team “Wai Run Samong Buam” with their innovation concept, “BCI-Main: A Game-Based Brain Rehabilitation System.” The team received the First Runner-Up Award at the university level and earned the opportunity to advance to the Southern Regional Pitching Round on 18 May 2026, with the goal of progressing to the national Demo Day.
The multidisciplinary team consisted of Mr. Adisak Taethanakit, Student ID 68121326; Mr. Thanachai Hemthanon, Student ID 68117027; and Mr. Atcharun Duere, Student ID 68124437, all from the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program, School of Engineering and Technology. They were joined by Ms. Sai Saengwiman, Student ID 68129436, from the Medical Digital Technology Program, School of Informatics, and Mr. Watcharachai Channarong from the School of Medicine.
The “BCI-Main: A Game-Based Brain Rehabilitation System” reflects an interdisciplinary approach that integrates knowledge in computer engineering, artificial intelligence, digital technology, and medicine. The concept aims to explore the use of technology and game-based approaches to support brain rehabilitation and training, making the rehabilitation process more engaging while creating opportunities for future development into innovative health-related products or services.
The team’s strength lies not only in its technological concept but also in the collaboration among students from different academic disciplines. This multidisciplinary structure allows the team to examine the project from several perspectives, including technology, healthcare, user experience, and potential business development. The experience also enables students to develop important skills in problem solving, teamwork, idea development, communication, and pitching innovative solutions to judges and stakeholders.
Receiving the First Runner-Up Award at the university level marks an important step in transforming a student idea into a potential innovation and business concept. Participation in Startup Thailand League provides students with valuable opportunities to learn about entrepreneurship, business model development, market potential, and the process of turning technological ideas into solutions that may create real value for users and society.
Following their success at the university level, the team will move forward to the Southern Regional Pitching Round on 18 May 2026, where they will present their concept and demonstrate their potential before the judging panel for an opportunity to advance to the national-level Demo Day.
