On January 9, 2024, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Wipawee Dechapanya, Acting Assistant Dean for Education Quality and Graduate Studies, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, participated in a collaborative meeting and signing ceremony to prepare for ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation. The event marked a significant step towards achieving ABET recognition within the year 2025.
The signing ceremony, presided over by Mr. Phermsuk Satchaphiwatch, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), aimed to enhance collaboration between MHESI and 16 higher education institutions in Thailand. These institutions, including Walailak University, are working towards ABET accreditation. The accreditation is part of a broader initiative to elevate the standards and quality of engineering education in Thailand to international levels.
The participating institutions, represented by Prof. Dr. Supachai Patumnakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and academic representatives, committed to the collaborative effort to seek accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) within the year 2025. The signing ceremony took place at Ballroom A, Printcess Hotel, Pathumwan, Bangkok, and involved 56 engineering programs from the following universities:
