On May 15, 2023, the Civil Engineering Program students from the School of Engineering and Technology at Walailak University achieved success by winning the “Higher Education Project Contest 2023.” The contest was organized by the Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology at Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus.
The winning team consisted of Ms. Prapatsorn Rittikorn, Mr. Alongkorn Prachoomrat, Mr. Tayakorn Boonkaew, Mr. Musylhi Samae, and Mr. Adam Jaha, under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tanongsak Imjai.
Their research project titled “Innovation of Glow Pins from Clear Resin Materials Mixed with Finely Digested Concrete Powder and Glow Powder” impressed the judges, earning them the top award. As a result, they received a prize of 7,000 baht. The objective of their research was to enhance the visibility of road users, particularly in poorly lit areas such as curved roads, in order to reduce accidents. The team conducted tests in a luminosity test box to measure the luminosity efficiency and longevity of their glow pins. Additionally, they compared the cost prices of traditional reflective pins with their innovative glow pins.
In another notable achievement, the research project titled “Smart Groundwater Bank Innovation for Modern Agriculture” secured the 2nd runner-up position in the contest. The team behind this project included Miss Nongying Khaoaim, Mr. Krirkchai Saadrit, Mr. Kongdej Buanoi, and Ms. Pakjira Orsai. They will be awarded a prize of 2,000 baht for their outstanding work.
