Walailak University, School of Engineering and Technology Hosts 9th ‘Engineering Relations 5 Institutes’ Sports Competition

On May 19, 2023, the School of Engineering and Technology at Walailak University hosted the 9th “Engineering Relations 5 Institutes” Sports Competition. The event aimed to foster collaboration in teaching, research, and the production of high-quality graduates by bringing together five schools/faculties of engineering. Asst. Prof. Dr. Monthian Setkit, Acting Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, presided over the opening speech, which was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Satjapan Leelatanon, Acting Deputy Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology.
The event took place at the Sports and Health Center Building of Walailak University, and it was attended by more than 300 individuals, including administrators, faculty, staff, and students from five institutes: Prince of Songkla University, Thaksin University, Narathiwat Rajanagarindra University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, and Walailak University.
The Engineering Sports Competition among the five institutes has become a tradition since its inception in 2010. The competition serves as a platform for sports competitions between personnel from these institutes, including both national and international events such as 7-a-side men’s football, 7-a-side women’s soccer, 3-a-side men’s mixed volleyball, 3-a-side women’s sepaktakraw, badminton (men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles), 3-a-side mixed petanque, as well as Hahe sports competitions like tug-of-war, blindfolded activities, and piping.
In his opening speech, Asst. Prof. Dr. Monthian Setkit expressed Walailak University’s honor and delight in hosting “the 9th Engineering Relations 5 Institutes Sports Competition”. He emphasized that the event promotes camaraderie and unity among the personnel from the five engineering institutes in the southern region of Thailand. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of academic collaboration in developing qualified engineers and other important aspects among the institutions. Additionally, the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of physical exercise for maintaining good health and fostering a prepared and capable workforce, which contributes to the nation’s prosperity.
