On July 4, 2024, the School of Engineering and Technology participated in the “MHESI Fair” Southern Region (3rd time). The opening ceremony of the “MHESI Fair” Southern Region at Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, highlighted 6 highlights to spark imagination, create inspiration, meet the needs of all target groups, and showcase Thailand’s potential in economic development through higher education, science, research, and innovation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, welcomed Dr. Petchdao Tomeena, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), who presided over the opening ceremony of the “MHESI Utilization Promotion Fair for Sustainable Thai Economic Development with Interdisciplinary Power” (MHESI Fair: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND) in the Southern Region, which is scheduled to be held from July 4-6, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Ekapong Musikajareon, Director of the Division of Promotion and Coordination for Science, Research and Innovation Benefits (DRI), Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, reported on the objectives of the event, along with executives, personnel, students, distinguished guests, government and private agencies, and interested members of the public, totaling 1,000 people, at the Main Auditorium, Thaiburi Building, Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province on July 4, 2024.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat said that on behalf of Walailak University and the Southern Science and Technology Park, I would like to welcome everyone to the “SCI Fair: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND” in the Southern region and would like to thank the advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (STI) for honoring me as the chairman to open the event. I am very pleased that the SCI Fair this time is held at Walailak University during July 4-6, 2024. Universities in the Southern Science Park network have joined in presenting booths for future skills courses. In addition, entrepreneurs who receive services from the university group in the Southern Science Park network are given the opportunity to bring their work and products that have been developed and nurtured with knowledge of science, technology and innovation and have the potential to develop the economy in the southern region to exhibit at the event, as well as exhibitions showing the progress of science, research and new innovations, light and sound performances, and technology skills competitions for high school and university youth. I am confident that this activity will be able to create awareness among the new generation of youth in the upper South. To recognize the importance of applying science, research and innovation to develop the economy in the region as well as possible.
