On Saturday, February 10, 2024, the Electrical Engineering Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, organized an Open House for Engineering and Technology (Open SET) for 60 Mathayom 4 students from Triam Udom Suksa School, Southern Region. The event was
organized to promote and introduce the curriculum in the School of Engineering and Technology, such as teaching and learning, laboratories, and activities outside the classroom. The Electrical Engineering Program, Head of the Department is Asst. Prof. Dr. Charoenkiat Phochaiya. The activity was divided into 2 parts: Basic knowledge of electronics and operations. Participants in the event will see the tools used in the classroom related to studying electrical engineering. The event has the following details:
1. P-N junction diode (diode made from semiconductor)
1.1 Concept and definition of semiconductor, electrical insulator and electrical conductor
1.2 Energy levels in semiconductors
1.3 Intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors
1.4 P-N junction diode
1.5 Equivalent circuit and symbol of diode
1.6 Internal resistance of diode and resistance of connection between semiconductor piece and electrode
1.7 Application of diode
2. Laboratory DC Power Supply
The School of Engineering and Technology offers six undergraduate programs: Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Civil Engineering, Petrochemical and Polymer Engineering, and Mechanical and Robotics Engineering.
Engineering is one of the most popular fields of study for admissions because it offers high salaries and is in demand in the job market, which is why many high school students are interested in pursuing this program. However, most students do not understand the context of various engineering disciplines.
To promote and support learning for students interested in engineering, focusing on stimulating students’ interest, creating a learning process and logical thinking process. In this time, students learned theories and practiced under the supervision and advice of teachers and expert scientists in various courses in a variety of learning activity bases.
This activity allows students to gain more knowledge and understanding in various engineering fields, which can be used as a guideline for decision-making and preparation for entrance examinations to study in courses that they are good at and interested in in the future.
