From 5–9 January 2026, at Event Hall 104, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bang Na, Bangkok, faculty members and students from the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, achieved international recognition by presenting their innovations at the 2026 IPITEx (International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition). Their outstanding performance earned several prestigious awards, including the IFIA Best Invention Award, Gold Medals, and an Outstanding Award, reflecting the team’s strong capabilities in research, innovation, engineering, and technology development with practical applications.
One of the award-winning projects, “Life Buoy Launching Device for Drowning Rescue,” received a Gold Medal. The device was designed to improve the speed and accuracy of water rescue operations by enabling a life buoy to be delivered quickly to a drowning victim. The innovation aims to reduce the risk to rescuers while increasing the chances of timely assistance and survival for people in emergency situations.
The project was developed by Assistant Professor Dr. Asanchai Sukkuea, Associate Professor Dr. Pensiri Ekajit, Associate Professor Dr. Wattanapong Kerdthongmee, Mr. Thanapat Chainarong, Mr. Pichaipusit Teerakul, and Mr. Danish Khaongam. The team integrated engineering knowledge, intelligent systems, and technology to develop a practical safety solution for real-world rescue situations.
Another outstanding project, “Water Quality Monitoring Using Remote Sensing and Time Series Analysis,” received both a Gold Medal and an Outstanding Award. The system was developed to support the monitoring and assessment of water quality through the integration of remote sensing technology and time series data analysis. By analyzing environmental data over time, the system can help identify trends and changes in water conditions more effectively.
This innovation has the potential to support relevant agencies in water resource management, environmental monitoring, pollution surveillance, and future trend analysis. The project was developed by Assistant Professor Dr. Asanchai Sukkuea, Associate Professor Dr. Pensiri Ekajit, Ms. Nattawan Sae-eaw, Mr. Worawiriya Nuannok, Ms. Sasipim Sae-eaw, and Mr. Punnawit Foithong.
The success achieved at the 2026 IPITEx demonstrates the ability of Walailak University faculty members and students to integrate knowledge in computer engineering, artificial intelligence, data analysis, intelligent systems, and emerging technologies to address real-world challenges. The awarded innovations particularly highlight applications in public safety and environmental management, two areas with significant impact on society and quality of life.
The development process also provided valuable opportunities for students to strengthen essential professional skills, including analytical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, innovation development, and the presentation of research and technology on an international stage.
