The School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, proudly congratulates students and a faculty member from the Mechanical and Robotics Engineering Program on receiving a Silver Medal at the 4th Industrial 4.0 Robot Control and Automation Competition, in Category 1: Industrial Welding Robot Control Using CMT Technology. The competition was held from 15–17 October 2025 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bang Na, Bangkok.
The event was organized as a prestigious national competition for the Royal Trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, providing an important platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
The Walailak University team consisted of Mr. Chakrit Suwanmanee, Student ID 66114273, and Mr. Sanawi Madman, Student ID 66128836, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Banteung Srikaran.
The competition in industrial welding robot control using CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) technology requires participants to integrate knowledge in robotics, automation systems, and modern industrial welding technology. Competitors are expected to demonstrate the ability to control robotic welding systems with precision, efficiency, and safety while responding to the requirements of modern manufacturing environments.
CMT technology is one of the advanced welding technologies used in industrial applications where accuracy and control are essential. The competition therefore challenged participants not only to understand robotic programming and system operation, but also to apply technical knowledge to real working conditions, troubleshoot problems, and optimize robot performance.
Winning the Silver Medal reflects the students’ ability to apply knowledge gained from classroom learning and practical training to a real competition environment. It also highlights their skills in robotic control, work process planning, problem solving, teamwork, and adapting to unexpected situations during the competition.
Participating in this competition also provided the students with valuable opportunities to experience technologies that are widely used in the industrial sector. Robotics and automation have become increasingly important in modern manufacturing, particularly under the concept of Industry 4.0, where intelligent machines, automated systems, digital technologies, and data-driven processes are integrated to improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
The experience gained from the competition therefore contributes significantly to the students’ professional development. In addition to strengthening their technical knowledge, the activity helped enhance analytical thinking, responsibility, teamwork, confidence, and readiness for future careers in engineering and industrial technology.

It also reflects the Program’s commitment to providing hands-on learning opportunities and preparing students with the practical and technological skills required by modern industry.
