Walailak University Engineering Delegation Holds Strategic Meeting with UniMAP to Strengthen Academic Collaboration
April 25 & May 1, 2025 – Perlis, Malaysia
A delegation from the School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University visited Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) as part of a strategic academic mission to Malaysia, with the aim of strengthening international partnerships and advancing research and academic collaboration.
On 25 April 2025, UniMAP hosted the Walailak University delegation for an in-depth academic meeting at the main campus. Led by Dr. Masitah Hasan and key members of UniMAP’s academic team, the discussions focused on developing a Postgraduate Dual Degree Program, covering topics such as curriculum structure, thesis co-supervision models, and mobility frameworks for graduate students. The dialogue also addressed broader collaboration in the form of joint research, co–publication, and exploring mutual funding opportunities through bilateral and ASEAN-level mechanisms.
The meeting served as a strong foundation for institutional cooperation, allowing both universities to align on academic priorities and explore long-term engagement strategies across multiple engineering disciplines.
On 1 May 2025, during the delegation’s return journey to Thailand, the team made a follow-up stop at UniMAP to conduct technical lab visits. The group was divided into two teams:
- Group 1 visited the Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CERE) and key research labs at the main campus.
- Group 2 visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Technology and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology at the off-campus location.
These visits allowed the Walailak team to gain firsthand insight into UniMAP’s research infrastructure and foster more targeted discussions for future co–research initiatives.
The delegation expressed sincere appreciation for UniMAP’s warm hospitality, well-organized agenda, and collaborative spirit. This visit marks a promising step forward in strengthening cross-border academic cooperation between the two institutions.
