School of Engineering and Technology Walailak University congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr. Thanongsak Imjai, Lecturer of Civil Engineering Program and Dr. Chirawat Wattanapanich, Lecturer of Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program Walailak University Researcher Design energy-saving Thai fonts Thai Eco font by reducing the amount of space within the font. Found able to save up to 30 percent and maintain the sharpness is not different from the original Ready to register a copyright with the Department of Intellectual Property and has been published in international journals.
Assistant Professor Dr. Thanongsak Imjai, professor of the School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University (Mass.) revealed that at present, various government agencies In Thailand, the font TH Sarabun is widely used. Each year, both public and private agencies Having expenses in purchasing a lot of printing ink, he, along with Dr. Chirawat Wattanapanich and a team of researchers from the School of Engineering and Technology, Mass. therefore came up with an idea to design an energy-saving Thai font set (Thai Eco font) How to reduce the use of ink as much as possible while maintaining the sharpness of the text.
Therefore, the research team has jointly developed and designed an energy-saving Thai font set (TH Imjai-Ecofont) by bringing the font used in government work, TH Sarabun, to develop and design along with testing the efficiency of printing ink. By designing to reduce the size of the space within the small parts. in each letter and analyzed to reduce the amount of Black Pixel as much as possible by photo processing method. but also sharpness at the font size in general documents The test results showed that the Thai Eco font can save 30 percent of the toner cartridge. Importantly, it maintains sharpness without the reader noticing a reduction in internal space. where the maximum font size is 18 pt and is compared with the Roman alphabet. The results of the research have been published in international journals.
“In this research, the toner saving efficiency test was performed using Apfill program to analyze the amount of ink printed on each letter type page. To analyze the toner content of A4 paper (80 gsm), print only full-page letters, use TH Sarabun fonts and Eco fonts, and scan high resolution 300 dpi. It was found that paper using Thai Eco font fonts can save 30 percent of ink”. Assistant Professor Dr. Thanongsak Imjai said.
and went on to say that The research team has registered the copyright with the Department of Intellectual Property. And has developed a font style Thai Eco font version 1.0 for users to download for free in the amount of 1 format. go
