Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Students Win Two Gold Medals at “Southern Inventor Award 2025” Innovation Fair

Students from the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence program at Walailak University proudly earned two gold medals at the Southern Inventor Award 2025, part of the Southern Innovation Fair 2025, held from July 17–19, 2025. This event showcased research and innovative projects from institutions across Southern Thailand.

🥇 Gold Medal in Public Health, Healthcare, and Medical Technology
Project Title: Screening Device for Strabismus Using Electrochromic Glasses and Automated Image Analysis System
Students: Mr. Thanet Wongphu and Ms. Laphatsarada Chotirat
Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattanapong Kerdtongmee
This project presents an innovative solution for early detection of strabismus in children by integrating Electrochromic lens technology with an AI-powered image analysis system, offering a more accessible and accurate screening method.

🥇 Gold Medal in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Device Development
Project Title: Thai License Plate Detection and Recognition System Using CiRA Core AIoT: A Case Study on Student Dormitory Gate Access at Walailak University
Students: Ms. Nichaphat Chomchoey and Mr. Sunthonphod Khunchit
Advisors: Asst. Prof. Dr. Puttiporn Tanatammate and Asst. Prof. Kornkot Suwanrat
This project applies AIoT technology to create a real-time Thai license plate recognition system aimed at enhancing security and efficiency for vehicle entry and exit at the student dormitory checkpoint.

These outstanding achievements reflect the capability and innovation potential of the students in the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence program, demonstrating their ability to turn academic knowledge into impactful solutions for society.
