Three researchers from the School of Engineering at Walailak University have been awarded a grant by the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization), or NIA, in collaboration with private sector partners. The funding supports innovation projects aimed at sustainable development. Details of the funded projects are as follows:
Precast Beam Product from Recycled Concrete Aggregate
This project is a collaboration between Siam Masters Concrete Co., Ltd. and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Patimaporn Sukmak and Asst. Prof. Dr. Satchaphan Leelatanon from the Civil Engineering program. It focuses on creating precast concrete beams utilizing recycled waste materials from the construction industry. The goal is to minimize waste and promote efficient use of resources.
“Bon Ban” Project: Eco-Friendly Votive Offerings Made from Recycled Paper
Conducted in partnership with Bon Ban Co., Ltd. and Asst. Prof. Dr. Prachid Sramoli from the Petrochemical and Polymer Engineering program, this project aims to develop culturally significant products used in traditional rituals, using recycled paper to reduce reliance on natural resources. The innovation reflects a harmonious blend of environmental consciousness and Thai cultural values.
The awarding of these grants highlights the capabilities of Walailak University researchers in addressing societal and environmental needs through innovation. With strong collaboration from the private sector, these projects are poised to transition into practical applications for both industry and communities.
