On Saturday, December 21, 2024, the Electrical Engineering Program of the School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, organized an academic open house event, “Open SET,” for 95 Grade 10 students from Triam Udom Suksa School, Southern Campus. The event aimed to promote the programs offered by the School of Engineering and Technology, showcasing the teaching methods, laboratory facilities, and extracurricular activities available to students.
The event was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Charoenkiat Pochaiya, Head of the Electrical Engineering Program, and was divided into two main parts: an introductory session on basic electronics and a hands-on session. Participants were introduced to tools and equipment commonly used in electrical engineering education. The morning session focused on theoretical knowledge, while the afternoon session allowed students to engage in practical work by building and testing rectifier circuits.
Engineering is one of the most popular fields of study due to its high earning potential and demand in the job market. However, many high school students lack a clear understanding of the scope and nature of engineering disciplines.
This initiative was designed to foster an interest in engineering by encouraging students to explore the field through hands-on learning and logical thinking processes. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members and scientific experts, students participated in various learning stations that provided both theoretical and practical experiences.
The event successfully enhanced the students’ understanding of different branches of engineering, offering them insights to make informed decisions about their future studies. By experiencing real-world applications of engineering concepts, students were better equipped to prepare for admission tests and choose programs that align with their skills and interests.
“Open SET” not only served as an educational opportunity but also inspired participants to consider a career in engineering, paving the way for a new generation of skilled professionals.
