On January 30, 2024, Walailak University, represented by the School of Engineering and Technology, the School of Public Health, and the Academic Service Center as advisors to the “Project to Develop the Potential of the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office to Develop a Provincial Climate Change Plan in Trang Province”, led by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jaojit, Vice President of Walailak University, Lecturer Nithima Nuhlong and Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Makkaew, lecturers from the School of Public Health, and Assistant Professor Dr. Kamol Thinsurat, lecturer from the School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, attended the 5th Trang Provincial Climate Change Working Group Meeting and the opening ceremony of the Trang Provincial Climate Change and Biodiversity Coordination Center at Thanarin Room 2, 2nd Floor, Thammarin Thana Hotel, Mueang Trang District, Trang Province, chaired by Mr. Songklod Sawangwong, Governor of Trang Province. The objective of opening the Trang Provincial Climate Change and Biodiversity Coordination Center is to continuously drive the policies of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The main missions are: 1. To be a central criterion for communication Create understanding and awareness of climate change 2. Coordinate and link operations with working groups, including related sectors, and be a source of information on climate change and biodiversity that can be used in various operations. In addition, at the meeting, Walailak University, as a project consultant, presented an action plan for adaptation to the impacts of climate change in Trang Province and listened to opinions from the provincial climate change working group of Trang Province for main agencies and supporting agencies to drive the action plan for adaptation to the impacts of climate change in Trang Province going forward.
Such actions are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SDG target 13 (Climate Action) to tackle climate change, and SDG target 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) to create cooperation with relevant networks and agencies.
Assistant Professor Dr. Kamol Tinsurat, a lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Program, School of Engineering and Technology, has expertise in Solar Energy, Energy Storage Systems, Optimization in Renewable Energy Systems, and many other things related to renewable energy.
