The Electrical Engineering program at the School of Engineering and Technology, Walailak University, organized the 14th Low Voltage Electrical System Development Camp at Wat Chonlatharam, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, on July 13, 2024. The project involved designing and installing electrical systems in the temple, where students also offered food and Sang-kha-tan. This activity is part of the Electrical System Design course for fourth-year students, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios while contributing to the maintenance of religious sites.
Following the success of the 13th Low Voltage Electrical System Development Camp for buildings and religious sites affected by flooding at Wat Samo, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, during the 2023 academic year, the project once again succeeded in restoring electrical systems to normal functionality. This alleviated the hardships of locals affected by insufficient lighting and helped preserve cultural heritage. The initiative integrates academic learning with community service and cultural preservation, engaging students from various levels: first-year students in EEE67-101 Basic Concepts of Engineering, second-year students in EEE62-211 Electrical Circuits 1, third-year students in EEE62-341 Power Systems, and fourth-year students in EEE62-345 Electrical System Design.
Beyond benefiting the community, the project enhances the professional skills of electrical engineering students by exposing them to real-world problems and teaching them practical problem-solving skills, cost estimation, teamwork, and project planning. It also fosters positive relationships between the university and surrounding communities. The knowledge gained from participating in this project serves as a foundation for future academic and professional development. Furthermore, the project promotes an appreciation for arts and culture, instilling in students a sense of responsibility to preserve and sustain these values within Thai society.
