On July 4, 2024, the School of Engineering and Technology at Walailak University participated in a ceremony to offer blessings and perform merit-making on the occasion of the birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. The event, held at the Thai Buri Building’s main auditorium, was attended by representatives from the Fourth Army Area, Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, senior judges from Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court, student leaders, representatives from both public and private sectors, and local community members.
Colonel Suwat Thongbai, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Fourth Army Area, Police Colonel Apichart Jansamrej, Chief of Thasala Police Station, and Mrs. Supatra Suebsom Anantapong, Senior Judge at Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court, were among the distinguished guests. The ceremony began with attendees watching a video showcasing the Princess’s royal duties and contributions to the well-being of the Thai people and the nation.
Subsequently, representatives from various university departments, the president of the student government, the president of the student council, representatives from the Walailak Demonstration Community Development, and other government and private sector entities, offered tributes in front of the Princess’s portrait. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, who presided over the ceremony, presented a floral tribute, performed a flower and candle offering, read a blessing, and students from Walailak University performed a dance in honor of the Princess.
Participants also signed a blessing book, wishing Her Royal Highness good health and happiness. In addition to the ceremony, students, staff, and the public donated blood, participated in volunteer activities to clean the university campus, and were invited to sign the blessing book and visit an online exhibition honoring the Princess on the university’s website from July 1-15, 2024.
