On June 6, 2024, the School of Engineering and Technology at Walailak University organized a meeting between academic advisors and new students for the 2024 academic year. Advisors and lecturers from six programs—Petrochemical and Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Mechanical and Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering—participated in the event to discuss and advise new students. Additionally, senior students welcomed the newcomers, fostering relationships between the different student cohorts.
The School of Engineering and Technology recognizes the crucial role of advisors in the success of students. Advisors assist new students during their adjustment period at the university, helping them adapt to new friends, new academic responsibilities, and overall university life. This support is especially vital for those who may still be accustomed to the structure of high school and may face challenges in adapting to university-level studies and social environments. Advisors play an essential role in ensuring that students can successfully adjust, overcome any problems they encounter, and enjoy their studies. The ultimate goal of the advisors is to help students graduate on time with the highest quality education possible.
In the afternoon, the school organized Group Dynamics activities to build strong relationships between senior and junior students. These activities also helped new students familiarize themselves with various locations within the university, such as school buildings, laboratories, and academic facilities. This orientation was designed to prepare students for the upcoming school year, ensuring they feel comfortable and well-integrated into the university community.
